week 13 includes
beans
carrots
sage
parsley
mixed tomatoes
beets
parsnips
kale
potatoes
kohlrabi
squash x2
turnip
swiss chard
What to do with them? How to Store? Recipes below!
beans – steam them until tender crisp and slather with butter!
(store in a plastic bag in the fridge)
sage – just in time for thanksgiving! Use fresh or dry and save for later.
parsley – parsley is a seriously underrated herb, it's good for so much more than finishing off a chicken noodle soup! try using your parsley in a pesto or maybe in this herb frittata.
Ideally your parsley would live in a glass of water in the fridge, but in a pinch you can put it in a bag with a damp piece of paper towel.
carrots – this one bowl carrot apple muffins looks delish
have you ever tried glazed carrots? mm so sweet and delicious.
(Remove the carrot tops (they leach moisture from the roots) before storing them both in plastic bags in the fridge)
tomatoes – we've been eyeing up this tomato tarte tatin as well as this tomatoes with burrata salad recipe
enjoy the bumper crop now! The cold weather is approaching which means tomato season is nearly over.
(store on the counter top)
beets - We like our beets steamed or boiled and served up warm, however they're good cold too on a salad.
(Remove greens up arriving home, leaving 1” of the stem on the roots, store in the crisper)
parsnips - it's finally roasted vegetable season! rejoice!
(store in the fridge crisper)
kale - you know what to do with this!
(store in a bag in the fridge)
potatoes - so gorgeous and so delicious.
(store in a cool, dark place)
kohlrabi - peel off the outer layer and then slice up the white, juicy inside. It's excellent raw as a snack (add a little salt?) or shredded into a salad. or pickled!
(store in the fridge)
squash - delicata and butternut! Both sweet. We leave and eat the skin of the delicata.
(store in a cool, dry place)
turnip - roast it, mash it! Just in time for fall
(store in the fridge)
swiss chard - we love this sauteed with other veggies in an egg scramble!
(store in the fridge in the crisper)
